Dubai's Public Prosecution has issued a stern warning to inform the public about the severe consequences associated with forging visas, residence permits, or any related official documents.

On August 16, the Dubai Public Prosecution posted the following statement on its official X account, previously known as Twitter: "Anyone who forges a visa, residence permit, or any official document issued based on such visa or permits, with the intention of evading the provisions of the law, shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10 years. The same penalty shall apply to anyone using any forged document mentioned in this article, knowing that it is forged."

According to Mohamed Elmasry, an Associate at Al Suwaidi and Company, Article 24 of Federal Decree Law No. 29 of 2021 on the Entry and Residence of Foreigners outlines this penalty.

Article 24 of Federal Decree Law No. 29/2021 on the Entry and Residence of Foreigners states:

Individuals who forge visas, residence permits, or any official documents that are the basis for issuing such visas or permits, with the intent to evade the provisions of this Decree Law, will be subject to imprisonment for up to 10 years.

Those who knowingly use any of the forged documents mentioned in this Article will be subject to the same penalty.

The Court shall also order the deportation of the foreigner from the State in all cases.

Elmasry emphasized, "Article 24 of Federal Decree Law No. 29 of 2021 takes a no-tolerance, punitive stance towards visa and residency fraud, imposing strict penalties of up to 10 years' imprisonment." Photo by Ahmed, Wikimedia commons.
