In 2024, UAE residents might enjoy a six-day-long weekend, as the government plans four extended breaks according to the official calendar.

Dubai: The UAE government unveiled the unified public holidays calendar for 2024, allowing residents to plan their brief getaways with ease.

These dates are based on the Islamic calendar and are subject to potential changes. The official dates will be confirmed closer to the holidays, contingent on moon sighting. However, we've compiled a list of anticipated long weekends based on projected dates.

January 1 The year begins with a long weekend, as January 1, 2024, falls on a Monday!

Eid Al Fitr Eid Al Fitr holidays will span from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, following the lunar calendar. Ramadan could be 29 or 30 days, with a predicted start on Monday, March 11, 2024.

If Ramadan extends for 30 days, Eid will fall on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. UAE residents might anticipate a prolonged break for Eid Al Fitr, starting from the preceding weekend. If Ramadan is 29 days long, it could mean a six-day weekend (Saturday through Thursday); otherwise, with a 30-day Ramadan, employees might enjoy a nine-day weekend, with work resuming on Monday, April 15, 2024. This estimation assumes Saturdays off.

Residents can look forward to a rejuvenating break in April - plan your annual leaves accordingly.

Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha Arafat Day is anticipated on June 15 (Dhu Al Hijjah 9) as per the Gregorian calendar, which falls on a Saturday. Furthermore, Eid Al Adha is projected to grant residents a three-day break, from Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to 12, 1445 AH on the Islamic calendar, translating into a four-day weekend from Saturday, June 15 to Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Please note that these dates are based on provisional calendars and may change.

Islamic New Year The Islamic New Year, Muharram 1, 1446 AH, is expected to fall on a Sunday (July 7, 2024), as per predicted calendars.

Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) Birthday Rabi Al Awwal 12, 1446 AH, corresponds to September 4, 2023, a Wednesday on the Islamic calendar. Residents might anticipate a mid-week holiday for this occasion.
